It was interesting to see how learning/work situation were theoretically analysed for the development of competences in the school and schematically illustrated it with the reciprocal effects.
- Activity description (Summary of what was done that day)
Using Moodle to support cooperation and learning among teacher and students E-portfolios as a tool for training and cooperation Competence oriented teaching and training (EQF). - What did I learn from this activity? What insights did this new knowledge give to me in relation to school/organisation, learner and employer?
Students of dual system – learning by learning situation, working in groups, independently solving the proposed problem – the use of Linux.A presentation about using Moodle to support cooperation between students and teachers.A presentation about the theoretical scheme of performance classes through teaching with learning situations.A teacher composes typical learning situations that can be encountered every day at work. He may draw from his own experience in the company, vocational standards or from the European Qualifications Framework. They presented to us some criteria and procedures for addressing learning situations (time, necessary skills to start, additional competences, ways how to start solving the situation, what product is expected at the end, what kind of individual contribution is required from the student and the teacher to achieve the goal, the evaluation criteria). Students work in teams. Some teachers have mastered learning situations and other modern pedagogical approaches and they use them at their work, while there are still teachers who do not follow that.
- How did I feel about what was presented to me? What did I find innovative?
What did I find difficult or challenging to do or understand and why?
In Slovenia using Moodle classrooms in schools is quite widespread. According to my information our teachers use Moodle extensively in e-classrooms for teaching and learning needs of the students. It was interesting to see how learning/work situation were theoretically analysed for the development of competences in the school and schematically illustrated it with the reciprocal effects.A few years ago we have developed a strategy of learning-working situations with team cooperation and networking of teachers in planning and implementing the teaching process, therefore this topic has not been a novelty for me. Although our educational programmes are based on the development of key and professional competences, the teachers in many schools are unfortunately not using it.
- What is working well and could be applied in my organisation and why? How would you go about doing this?
The efforts of teachers developing and using effective methods to improve the quality of students teaching and learning are working well. Making changes always require a lot of effort. Different people need different amount of time to decide to adopt innovations in their work, so I think we have to be persistent in introducing innovations in our country. - What definitely would not work in my organisation and why?
There are no special features that we would not be able to gradually disimilate in our schools.
Any additional comments
I would like to thank the coordinator and all participating teachers for the commitment and open communication on presentations. All the candidates can communicate in English perfectly, they are friendly and open to express their views and opinions about how they feel, their experiences and what bothers them in the course of education and training.
